Slovenia’s single SI bidding zone is run by TSO ELES (Elektro-Slovenija), which clears day-ahead volumes on the BSP SouthPool / ADEX exchange it co-owns with Serbia’s EMS and EPEX SPOT — and since October 2023 ELES is also the national distribution operator. A solar boom to 1,650 MW (roughly 70,000 units, +16% in a single year) has strained connection queues and pushed the country toward a 55.4% renewable-electricity target, so the state is paying batteries to help: a real €10 million Climate-Change-Fund call (via Borzen) covers up to 45% of a corporate storage system, capped at €225 /kWh, alongside a €30 million prosumer scheme. A battery that buys cheap solar-hour power and sells the evening peak captures the €170 /MWh average day-ahead spread — fully 141% of the average price over the last 30 days — and can then stack ELES ancillary revenue via PICASSO aFRR and FCR.
